Coincidences between M(atrix) Theory and Algebraic Qft ?
نویسنده
چکیده
This is a preliminary account of coincidences between algebraic QFT and some recent observations on \light cone quantization" and applications to \M" theory. The most surprising correspondence is that between the existence of wedge aaliated semiglobal eld coordinates without vacuum polarization and those light cone elds (on which \Matrix" theory is based) with analogous properties. There is also an indication that algebraic QFT leads to a generic \Holographic" picture of entropy. As a rule of thumb quasiclassical and geometric pictures abstracted from string theory correspond to nonperturbative quantum properties in the algebraic approach to QFT. The unravelling of the latter requires new physical concepts .

متن کاملM(embrane) Theory on T
An 'algebraic' approach to M-theory is briefly reviewed, and a proposal is made for a similar algebraic structure underlying the T 9 compactification of 'M(embrane) theory', i.e. the M(atrix) model with area-preserving diffeomorphism gauge group.
متن کاملA note on M(atrix) theory in seven dimensions with eight supercharges
We consider M(atrix) theory compactifications to seven dimensions with eight unbroken supersymmetries. We conjecture that both M(atrix) theory on K3 and Heterotic M(atrix) theory on T 3 are described by the same 5+1 dimensional theory with N = 2 supersymmetry broken to N = 1 by the orbifold projection. The emergence of the extra dimension follows from a recent result of Rozali (hep-th/9702136)....
متن کاملLagrangian quantization versus representation-theoretical approach to QFT
This is a pedagogical attempt to elucidate the conceptual and mathematical differences between Lagrangian quantization, causal perturbation theory guided by the setting of algebraic QFT and some recent developments of nonperturbative intrinsic constructions of QFT based on the conceptual setting of AQFT.
متن کاملM(atrix)-Theory in Various Dimensions
We demonstrate the precise numerical correspondence between long range scattering of supergravitons and membranes in supergravity in the infinite momentum frame and in M(atrix)-Theory, both in 11 dimensions and for toroidal compactifications. We also identify wrapped membranes in terms of topological invariants of the vector bundles associated to the field theory description of compactified M(a...
